As many as 5.96 lakh jobs in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector have been created in the last four years, as per official records of the Odisha government.
Odisha MSME Minister Prafulla Samal said 1.97 lakh MSME units were set up at an expenditure of Rs 10,320 crore in the last four years – from 2014-15 to 2017-18.
These units have been successful in generating 5.96 lakh jobs so far, said the minister.
The state now has 3.22 lakh MSME units that have been established with a total investment of Rs 15,959 crore.
Till March 2018, as per government records, these units have generated 13.35 lakh jobs across Odisha.
Meanwhile, District Level Single Window Clearance Authority (DLSWCA) has approved 542 MSME projects from April 2015 to March 2018.
Of the total 542 projects, production has started for 67, while 119 are under implementation.
The total project cost is Rs 2,040 crore. On completion, there will be an employment generation for 21,730 people, the MSME minister said.
On Monday (Mar 14), while reviewing the performance of the MSME department, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the youth are being motivated to set up MSME units in the state.
He said the government organized 3,752 motivational camps so far where as many as 323,451 youth participated.
The state government have already provided entrepreneurship training under Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDP) to 20,049 youth.
