Jagatsinghpur (Orissa), August 4 (Odisha.in) A court has sentenced seven persons to life imprisonment for killing a man in their village in Orissa’s Jagatsinghpur district on November 1998, a government lawyer said Saturday.
Arun Mishra, the additional district session judge at Jagatsinghpur, some 120 kilometers from the state capital Bhubaneswar handed over the punishment Friday to Ranjan Das, Babaji Das, Ananta Behera, Naresh Behera, Uttam Khatua, Bijoy Khatua, and Nihar Ranjan Biswal.
Police had arrested and charge sheeted them for killing Atul Swain at Ersama village market on November 27 in the presence of dozens of local people.
After killing him with sharp weapons they had threw the dead body of Atul in the near by paddy field, local government lawyer Sangramkeshari Mohanty old Odisha.in.
