Sambalpur, August 18 (Odisha.in)After fake medicines, circulation of fake caste certificate has started hunting the residents of Sambalpur district.
However some villagers have come forward to show the persons their way for using fake certificates and the officials concerned for making it possible.
On Saturday, villagers of Themra Gram Panchayat met Sambalpur District Collector LN Nayak demanding immediate dismissal and criminal proceedings against Budheswari Nayak, a Sarpanch, for submitting false caste certificate, affidavit and suppressing facts during filing up nomination papers.
Reports said, Sarpanch post of the panchayat is reserved for an OBC (Other Backward Class) woman candidate. Though Nayak belonged to Thanapati caste, which is under the general category, she managed to get an OBC certificate by
suppressing facts and stating herself an OBC candidate and belonging to Mali caste.
However, after Nayak was elected as Sarpanch, the villagers got wind of the issue and filed a petition before the Sambalpur Tehasildar on the issuance of OBC Caste Certificate to Nayak.
The Tehsildar however found that Nayak had suppressed facts and submitted forged documents to avail the OBC Caste Certificate. Later, the Tehasil court cancelled the OBC certificate issued to Nayak and ordered that any gain availed from the certificate should be revoked.
Meanwhile Sambalpur District Collector LN Nayak has directed the District Panchayat Officer to initiate necessary actions against the Sarpanch.
