Joda, Sept.19, ( Odisha.in ): Two female elephants were killed and a calf was seriously injured when a goods train hit a herd of wild elephants crossing the rail line near Bansapani Railway Station in Keonjhar district. The incident took place early Wednesday morning.
Due to rampant deforestation and indiscriminate mining activities in Keonjhar district the elephants have lost their natural habitats and are in distress are are moving over in search of home for them. In the process they are falling victims to poachers and many die due to accidents.
