New York, September 24 (Odisha.in) Pratap Das the president of Indian Performing Arts Promotions Inc. (IPAP) which is promoting Odissi worldwide has been elected as the new president of Oriya Society of America (OSA).
OSA is a charitable organization in the United States with over 600 active non resident Oriyas as its members.
Das is a life member of OSA since 1984 and was the Secretary-Treasurer of OSA for the year 1983-85. He has earned his MA in Psychology from Utkal 1973 and MBA from American University in 1976.
He is the President for Community Services at the Asian Indian for Community Services (AICS) at Washington DC since 2005.
He organized 3 international Odissi Festival including the last festival held in Bhubaneswar in 2006. He received the first Kalashree Award from OSA.
Ashustosh
He was the Washington DC local chapter president in 1995-96 and OSA Convener in 1983 and 1991 at Washington D.C.
He along with his wife Pinu and their two children Swagat (24) and Pallavi (20) live in Poolesville, Maryland.
Ashustosh Dutta has been elected as the new vice president of the OSA.
. Dutta had 6th rank in Matric Board in 1979, did I.Sc. from
BJB college, B.Sc (Engg) from NIT
Rourkela, MS in Computer Science from NJIT,
ABD at Columbia University in Electrical Engineering.
Ashutosh was the
president of OSA (New York) [90-92]
and was the co-convenor of the Silver Jubilee convention in 1994 at Pomona,
NJ.
Ashutosh was one of the founders of ORNET a mailing list server
for of ODIYA’s all over the world. He is a Senior Scientist at Telcordia
Technologies.
Ashutosh has been awarded IEEE Princeton Section Leadership
award in 2005. Ashutosh is a life member of OSA. He lives with his wife
Sarmistha and two kids Srijoy and Arijit in Bridgewater,
NJ.
Dr. Priyadarshan Patra and Mr. Sandip Dasverma have been
elected as secretary and treasurer of OSA. Outgoing president of the OSA Niranjan
Tripathy has congratulated all the winners.
Patra was born and brought up in Brahmapur, Ganjam . He had
his schooling also in Banpur, Puri and Cuttack
(Ravenshaw).
He holds a B.Sc. in Physics, B.Engg. in ECE from IISc
Bangalore, an M.S. from UMass Amherst, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UT Austin
. Dr. Priyadarshan Patra
He is an award-winning, senior research scientist at Intel’s
renowned Microprocessor Technology Labs and is a founding member of the
Validation Research Lab.
He has authored numerous technical papers, patents, as well
as public-interest articles. He lives in Portland,
Oregon with his wife Anu anAshish &
Adarsh.
Dasverma is well-known for his efforts to provide financial assistance
to poor students in Orissa. He also
spearheads fun raising for RMTS (Rural Math Talent Search) .
For his service to Orissa and Oriyas he received the
Gopabandhu award at the recent 2007 OSA convention. He lives in Richland,
Washington with his wife Lila and daughter
Barnali.
