Keonjhar, September 29 (Odisha.in) At least twenty thousand people led by the local Bharaitya Janata Party leaders Saturday staged a mass rally at Keonjhar town protesting government neglect to the region.
The people demanded that the government should complete the construction of National Highway (NH) 215 in the district and allow passengers train to roll on Daitari (Jakhapura) – Banspani Railway track.
Though the rail project completed one year back, only iron loaded trains are running on the lines.
The protestors marched with BJP flags through the town raising slogans against the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.
They also declared that they will go for an indefinite economical blockade in Keonjhar from September 30 if their demands are not met.
“No minerals will be allowed on road or railway line in the district from September 30” said BJP District Yuba Morcha president Sudhir Nanda.
The protestors also set ablaze effigy of Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmahon Singh, Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav, Shipping, Surface and Transport Minister T.R.Balu and Karunanidhi.
