Keonjhar, September 30 (Odisha.in) The road and train blockade launched by Bharatiya Janata Party Sunday has affected economic activities in mineral rich Keonjhar district, official said.
The BJP has launched the economic blockade till indefinite period demanding early construction of NH-215 and requesting the government to start a passenger train.
Hundreds of agitators stopped trucks running on the national high way at Joda- Barbil mining area and ore loaded trains.
This has not only hampered iron transportation from the region but also caused a loss of crores of rupees to the government, steel companies and transporters.
In Keonjhar BJP President Murali Sharma and Gen Secretary Dhiren Panda have sat on relay hunger strike in front of the collectorate.
Loading and unloading in different railways tracks in Joda, Barbil mining sector have also hampered as the local labour unions are supporting the strike. “The strike will be continue till our demands are fulfilled” Sharma said.
