Bhubaneswar, Oct 09 (Odisha.in) Orissa Government , on the eve of the Durga Puja, Monday announced release of additional dose of Dearness Allowance (DA) at the rate of 6 per cent to its employees along with the employees of aided educational institutions in cash with the pay of October and onwards.
Besides, government has rationalized the D.A. structure between the employees of both state government and Aided educations by deciding to release the backlog DA of 13 per cent which has been a long standing demand.
However the fresh dose of 6 per cent DA would be effective from is first January 2007, a government spokesman told Odisha.in Tuesday.
The Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the proposals to bring parity in the DA between the employees of the state government and aided educational institutions after holding discussion with the delegation of Orissa non-gazatted employees Coordination Committee led by its general secretary Braja Kishore Nanda on Monday evening at the state secretariat.
While the stae government employees were getting 29 per cent of DA by January 2007, their counterparts in the aided educational institutions were getting only 16 per cent till July 2006.Now the backlog DA of 13 percent till December 2006. Now the both the employees would get 35 per cent of DA.
As per the decision, the arrear DA at the rate of 6 per cent for the nine months of the current year, and the backlog of six months during 2006 for the aided educational
Institutions employees’ will be paid before December 2007 following the passing of the supplementary budget in the assembly. But the employees would get their fresh additional dose of six percent DA along with their salary from current October onwards in cash, said the spokesman.
Despite the release of the fresh additional six percent, another six percent has already been due to the government.
The arrear and the backlog D.A would cost the exchequer to the tune of Rs.354 crores which include the TI for the retired government employees, said the spokesman.
