Keonjhar,October17 ( Odisha.in ) Over three thousand anganwadi workers of All Orissa Anganwadi Ladies Workers Association,Keonjhar district held a mass rally and staged demonstration before the collectorate on Tuseday to press their demands.
They handed over a 14-point charter of demands to the chief minister through the collector Keonjhar.
The rally was led by Sushamarani Mohapatra secretary “All Orissa Anganwadi Ladies Workers Association”. Addresing the rally the state secretary of the association and vice-president Bharatiya Mazdoor sangh (BMS) Basanta Kumar Sahu said “if the government. will not hear to the long standing demands, the 75 thousand workers in the state will gherao the assembly during the coming session”.
Their main demands include government servant status for the anganwadi workers, payment of regular salaries, hike in salaries and providing all facilities, fulfilling supervisor post by giving promotion as per the qualification and giving enhanced travel allowances and dearness allowances etc.
Talking to media, the Collector said ” he will sent the memorandum to the Government.”
