Bhubaneswar,October 21 ( Odisha.in) Orissa government expressed its willingness to have a direct dialogue with the anti-POSCO protestors for a negotiated settlement to pave the way for the construction of the $12 billon green field Steel Plant at Paradeep as police arrested 13 persons preparing for a black-flag demonstration here. .
On his return from Delhi on Saturday, Chief Minister said, ” I am prepared certainly to have disccusion with anybody, if it leads to a practical and peaceful solution ” asserted the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on being asked ,whether he wants a direct dialogue with the anti-POSCO agitators.
“POSCO being India’s biggest ever FDI project, it must come up and we will find proper solution ” said the Chief Minister told media persons here on his return from New Delhi.
Patnaik said that he had discussion with the POSCO Board Members led by its Chief Execituve Officer Ku Taek Lee and ” the company is very positive about putting up the project which is going ahead properly”.
Reminding the anti-industry brigade , Patnaik said ,”POSCO –India steel Project and other proposed major projects will usher lot of development and progress to the state and bring much required direct and indirect employment, revenue earnings ,Infrastructures like road and railways network etc, besides promotion of downstream and ancilliary industry”.
“Our’s is the best Rehabilitation and Resettlement policy in the country and state government will look into the displacement issue and resolve the crisis peacefully,”he averred..
On the continued protests by the anti-displacement and POSCO Pratirodha Birodhi Manch’s hostage tactics, he lamented ,” people should not take law into their own hands” with a veiled warning ,” no one is above law”.
Regarding the alleged failure of administration to ensure POSCO to enter into the proposed Project area and carry on construction process , Patnaik hinted that he would take up a review meeting to take stock of the Situation and the progress of the project soon.
