Balasore, November 22(Odisha.in) The police have seized 4400 litres of kerosene from two pick-up vans in Dewanpatna village under Town police limits on Wednesday. Police also have arrested one person in this connection and seized these two vans.
Balasore SP Yashwant Jethwa said, “In a tip off, a special squad formed to crack down illegal transporting of PDS items and liquor, intercepted the vans en-route. They also nabbed one driver of the van Hari Hansda.”
“The kerosene laden vans from Ranital of Bhadrak district was to reach Balasore and distributed through public distribution system.
But instead it was heading towards Balaramgadi fishing base just to be illegally transported through sea route,” Jethwa informed.
Following a series of allegation about the illegal transaction of kerosene, rice and wheat the local police have formed special squads to have a control over it.
“We are raiding different parts of the district and keeping strict vigil on various depots across Balasore. No one involved in the trade will be spared,” the SP added.
