The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that monsoon will enter Odisha between June 5-10.
Much to the delight of the farmers, IMD Bhubaneswar director HR Biswas said the state will receive “normal rainfall” this monsoon.
Pertinently, “normal rainfall” in Odisha is 116 cm.
Meanwhile, pre-monsoon rainfall occurred at several districts on Friday (June 1).
The IMD had issued lightning alerts for 13 districts including Dhenkanal, Balasore, Angul and Khurda.
According to IMD sources, Dhenkanal received 28 mm, Talcher 27 mm, Baripada 22.4 mm and Balasore 4 mm rainfall on Friday.
Biswas said this pre-monsoon rains will intensify after June 4.
The state may experience thundershower with lightning on Saturday (June 2) and Sunday (June 3).
