The Odisha government has informed that revenue generation in the state has reached a record high by the end of financial year 2017-18.
Here are the details:
1. Odisha Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey has informed that during 2017-18, total revenue collection in the state was Rs 84,793 crore.
2. This is an all-time high figure in terms of revenue generation in the state.
3. The latest revenue generation figure made up around 22.24% of the total Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
4. Revenue collection in 2017-18 rose by at least 14% compared to that in financial year 2016-17.
5. Total revenue collection in 2016-17 was about Rs 74,229 crore, while in 2017-18, it grew to Rs 84,793 crore.
6. The capital outlay rose to 5.6% of the GSDP at Rs 21,357 crore.
7. Odisha’s own tax revenue rose by 16.22% at Rs 35,912 crore.
8. The debt stock was at 17% of the GSDP. The cap is 25%.
9. Up by around 45% over same period last fiscal year, total revenue collection from own tax sources in April 2018 stood at Rs 1,888 crore compared to Rs 1,302 crore in April 2017.
10. Total revenue collection from non-tax sources grew about 40% over same period last fiscal year. In April 2017, the figure was Rs 434 crore. In April 2018, the figure stands at Rs 608 crore.
