Bhubaneswar, March.28 ( Odisha.in) A delegation of Congress leaders led by Leader of Opposition J.B. Patnaik met Orissa Governor Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare at the Governor’s house and demanded to solve the constitutional cricis arisen out of the allegation of Assistant Marshal of Orissa Assembly Gayatri Panda about sexual harassment by Speaker Maheswar Mohanty.
Later talking to media persons Patnaik said, the Congress would continue to boycot the proceedings of the Assembly until the Government relent to the legitimate demands of the opposition.
According to the rules, the Speaker appoints the House Committee. Since here the Speaker is the accused, he can not appoint a House Committee to probe into allegations against him
The women wing of Congress and a number of Congress activists under leadership of former minister Suresh Kumar Routray held a demonstration before the State Assembly demanding immeiate resignation of Mohanty and institution of C.B.I. probe into the allegations of ladt marshal Gayatri Panda.
The demonstrators slapped the effigy of Speaker Mohanty with chappals and then torched it.
