Bhubaneswar, Dec 23 (Odisha.in) Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was elected unanimously as the President of the regional outfit Biju Janata Dal (BJD) which observes its tenth anniversary on 26th December next.
Expressing his gratitude to the party men Sunday for reposing faith on him to lead the party for Sixth time in a row, Patnaik said,” There is no room for dictatorship in BJD”.
Asserting that the party is ready to face the election at any point of time, BJD supreme asked his party men “to go to the people, hear the people, do the needful and let the party know whether plans and programmes being implemented by government reaching the people”.
Stating that progress and prosperity of the state is the only agenda of BJD and state government, he said “we have been working for the development of poor, weaker sections of the society like Sc, ST and would continue to fulfil the dreams of late Biju Babu”.
Patnaik on his reelecetion as the party Supremo at the specially convened State Executive at the Party Head quarters, announced his new team, the blend being weighed more towards the young blood.
Young leaders like Atanu Sabyachai Nayak, Debasish Nayak, Debasis Samantray, N.Bhaskr rao, Sarat Paikray, Jangeswar have found place in the list of General Secretaries. And all most all the young leaders are included as Secretaries.
However, the party boss has again seems to have reposed faith on former Minister Dr.Damodar Rout by assigning the plum post of the Secretary General of the party, who is regarded as the chief Spokesman.
Even as the Chief Minister and the party chief is harping on the women empowerment, the ideals did not reflect on the list of office bearers. There are five Vice –Presidents and ten General Secretaries, but no place for women representatives.
Only one woman leader Anjali Kanungo found place in the list of seven secretaries There is however no representation from the minorities.
Senior leader, Jogendra Behera has been nominated as the Treasurer of the party.
Patnaik has announced the names of newly elected presidenets of 31 organizational districts of the party.
The list of office bearers include five Ministers and two Lok Sabha Members.. while A.U.Singh Deo, Prafulla Chandra Ghadai, Kalindi Behera , Prasanna Acharya, and Prasanna Patasani are made Vice-Presidents, Surya Narayan Patro,
Debasish Nayak, Raghu nath Mohanty, ,Sarat Kumar Paikray, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Jangeswar, Debasis Samantray, Narendra Kumar Swain, N.Bhaskar Rao, and R.N.Pani are taken as General Secretaries.
The list of secretaries include- Ajit Hembrum, Anjali kanungo, Priyadarshi Mishra, Ramesh Majhi, Sanjaya Kumar Das Burma, Sarada Nayak and Saroj Samal.
