Bhubaneswar, Dec 14 (Odisha.in) The 4th Pravasi Oriya Divas will be celebrated on Dec 23 at Nalco Auditorium Hall and the inaugural session would start at 10 O’clock in the morning.
NROFC (Non Resident Oriya Facilitation Centre) in cooperation with the NRO (Non Resident Oriya Cell) Cell of the Government of Orissa has been organizing every year this on 4th Sunday of December the Pravasi Oriya Divas with pomp and pleasure since 2004.
We follow the pattern of the Prabasi Bharatiya Diwas the Government of India every year promotes (it is usually held on Jan. 9 the date on which Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa), the centre president Sahadev Sahu said.
Prabasi Oriya Diwas celebration is an expression of our desire that the newer generations of people of Orissa origin work with the State Government, hand in hand, with the sole purpose of building a better Orissa.
As no celebration of Prabasi Oriya Diwas would be meaningful without participation of the NROs the NROFC has requested all non resident Oriyas to join the celebration as per the programme.
NROFC is happy to announce that the Ruchi Prativa Foundation have decided to institute an international award by style of Prabasi Prative Samman to honour an NRO of outstanding achievements which have enhanced the image of Orissa in the World.
The award would be given annually at the Prabasi Utkaliya Divas. The award carries a citation, engraved in a copper/silver plaque, a trophy and a shawl. NROFC is free to makes rules for selecting an eminent overseas Oriya for this award.
NROFC invites nominations from associations or their regional/provincial chapters, from all over the world, with reasons why they recommend the person for the award, giving details of how he/she has helped in creating a better image of Oriyas and Orissa in the world map.
Membership donation to NROFC is $25 for NROs.
