Jagatsinghpur, November 24 (Odisha.in) Chief Minster Naveen Pattnaik inaugurated traditional Kalinga Baliyatra Festival at Paradip on Friday.
Addressing the gathering Pattnaik said that government has determined to make the state prosperous by establishing industries. Industry will change socio economic condition of the state, he said.
However government has also always been given importance for the development of agriculture and down trodden people of the state, he said.
He informed that Oil refinery project of Indian Oil Corporation will start from April ’08 and for that the government needs the cooperation from the people.
Pattanik explained that he feels proud attending this Kalinga Baliyatra festival as it symbolises our rich cultural heritage and the glorious maritime past.
This festival reminds us about marine trader and ‘Sadhavas’ who were ancient traders of Kailnga and were instrumental for the cultural exchange in southeastern islands of Asia.
Local legislator Damodar Rout also highlighted the achievement of ruling government and needed the co operation from people for establishment of Posco steel project.
He informed that this government has determined to fulfill the dreams of former chief minister Biju Babu. MPBrahamananda Panda, Zilla parishad president Natabar Barik, Jagatsinghpur legislator Bishnu Das, Balikuda legislator Umesh Swain, Kishoernagar legislator Pratap Jena, PPT chairman K.Raghu Ramaiah were among others who were also present on this
occasion.
Kalinga Baliyatra Festival will continue till 29th Nov in which cultural troupes from Assam will perform Bihu dance, Purulia chhau by West Bengal troupes, Dandia dance by Gujarat, Ghumur dance by Rajasthan and Bharat Natyam by Chennai dance troupes.
Gramshree Mela is also special attraction in this festival. Sand artists from Paradip, Dhenkanal and Kendrapada will perform sand art on this occasion.
Odissi food Mela, poem recital, boating competition are also other attractions in this festival. More than 120 different stalls have opened at Biju Maidan to attract the people.
