Morrisville, November 16 (Odisha.in) Odissi dance performed by artists of Odissi Nrutya Niketana during the celebration of Diwali enthralled audiences in a city in US.
The India Community of North Carolina Celebrated the festival of Light on 10th November at Hindu Temple, Morrisville.
Diwali – signifies dispelling of darkness from the world. Diwali is the most widely celebrated Hindu festival and marks the victory of good over evil and the beginning of the New Year.
It is a festival for all of us to enjoy and have fun to keep up the spirit of diwali entertainers from young to old shared the platform and made it vibrant, here an eyewitness said.
Along with the eclectic array of entertainers, the audiences were diverse.
Odissi Nrutya Niketana under the leadership of Guru Madhumita Kar (Mishra), had a piece of Odissi dance (Mangala Charan ) at the festival, he said.
Mangalacharan is the first item of Odissi dance style marks the entrance of dancers on stage with flowers.
The dancers invoked the blessings of Lord Jagannath for an auspicious beginning. Then the dancers offered salutations to the mother earth, the teacher and to the audience.
It is followed by a prayer to Three Lords Brahma, Vishnu, Maheswar. Madhumita Misra was the choreographer.
The artists who participated were SashiRekha Mishra, Priyanka Kallem, Neha Kar, Nayanika, Adya, Prarthana, Madhumita.
