Jajpur,October 17 ( Odisha.in) Angry villagers of Kundapatna locked up both the gates of Darshan High School and Middle English School at Kundapatana under Jajpur police station limits and staged mass dharana before both the schools on Tuesday.
The villagers were peeved over suspension of a teacher of the village high school.
They did not allow even teachers including head masters of the duo schools to enter the school campus and forced them to leave the place.
Headmaster of Darshan High School, Madhurmurali Dash told Odisha.in , “the villagers numbering about 300 prevented the teachers including me to enter into school campus.
Besides, they had locked both entrance and exit gates of the school and besieged the gates. Even the school children were not allowed to enter the school. I reported the matter to the Jajpur Circle Inspector of Schools and the local police on the issue and left the place.”
According to the sources, a teacher of the high school, Rabindra Kumar Sahoo has been suspended for violation of the provision of Orissa Government Servant Conduct Rule, 1959. His suspension order came to school on Monday.
When the suspension order news spreads, angry villagers locked the school and sat on a dharana before the school gate demanding immediate withdrawal of the suspension order. The ME school that is located in the high school campus was also closed following the agitation.
The Village Education Committee president, Anirudha Prusty said, “Rabindra Kumar Sahoo is a good teacher and very sincere in his duty. Neither the villagers nor the students complained against him.
Why will he be placed under suspension? It is a political vindictiveness of the local legislator and the legislator is taking revenge after his candidate lost to the last panchayat election in Routarapur gram panchayat.”
