Dehra Dun, Oct 11 (Odisha.in) At least 41 tourists from Orissa who were on a pilgrimage have been reportedly died in Uttarakhand after the bus in which they were traveling fell in a river Thursday.
The bus carrying about 45 passengers all reportedly from Orissa was on its way to Joshimath from Badrinath. The driver reportedly lost control after hitting a boulder . It fell down from the road around 50 meters into the Alakhnanda River near Vishnuprayag, it said.
Alakhnanda is a tributary of Ganga river. Senior district administrative and police officials have rushed to the spot and have been trying to retrive all the 41 bodies using ropes.
Two persons rescuede in critical conditions. They have been taken to the nearest hospital at Srinagar. All the people were returning from Badrinath to Rishikesh. Majority of the persons reported to have been from southern district of Ganjam and Puri districts.
