Balasore, September 28(Odisha.in) The district superintendent of police P S Ranpise on Thursday has removed a habildar from Chandipur police station to the reserve police on charges of assaulting and misbehaving with some flood victims.
The habildar Amulya Jena had alleged misbehaved and assaulted some flood-hit people at Jhampura hat on Wednesday night.
Sources said, Jena reportedly in an inebriated state had assaulted one Sanatan Barik, a resident of Nalabahar village, while he was guarding a group of people in the market.
Following the police excesses the deluge-hit people threatened to gherao the police station, but in advance local police officials
intervened and managed to make them understand.
“Acting on the allegation of the SP transferred him to the police headquarters,” confirmed circle inspector of police Akshay Mishra.
