Bhubaneswar, September 25 (Odisha.in) Small traders and local vegetable vendors attacked two of the four Reliance Fresh outlets here forcing the company officials to shut their shops.
Dozens of women and men shouted slogans and first attacked its retail outlet at Lewis road and another at Gopabandhu square after some time.
The irate traders also pelted stone at the shops. A lady manager working in one of the outlet managed to escape even if the irate demonstrators pelted stone at her, an eye witness said. The shops were immediately closed. Police have rushed to the spot.
Talking to Odisha.in Gayadhar Swain, General Secretary Bhubaneswar Traders’ Union and D.K. Mohanty, General Secretary of Bhubaneswat Traders’ and Vendors’ Federation said that they are determined not to allow the Reliance Fresh outlets to operate in Bhubaneswar as it will snatch away the bread and butter of the small traders and vendors.
