Balasore, September 15 (odisha.in) Balasore Alloys Limited (BAL) has initiated steps for the second level of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) after becoming the first ever Ferro Alloys Company in India to receive the prestigious award TPM Excellence Award – First category form Japan institute of plant maintenance (JIPM), Japan.
The kick-off ceremony of the second level held in the company premises at Balgopalpur industrial estate recently where Yoshio Egami of Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance and Solutions (JIPM-S) attended as chief guest.
In his brief speech Egami appreciated the approach of BAL for its sustainable effort to achieve this goal much before the stipulated time.
“The company has made improvement in over all plant effectiveness and increased production. Besides, it has registered drastic reduction in customer complaints and break down,” he said besides expressing that his guidance will always be there for Level-II certification.
Having started on 8 July 2004 BAL got qualified for the TPM Excellence Award first category on 22 December 2006 and it received the award on March 15, this year.
Since the implementation of TPM, BAL also has achieved other parameter like safety, environment, greenery development, energy conservation, skill level of employees, loss elimination and cost reduction.
Speaking on the occasion Rabindra Kumar Jena, joint managing director of BAL, said, “The company is seriously working for the implementation of all levels of TPM to improve the productivity. Company is having a consultancy division for implementing six sigma, activity based costing management, performance management system (PMS).”
While PVSN Murty delivered TPM Journey of Balasore Alloys Ltd, Sujatha Sridhar and assistant general manager (PR) Sanjay Acharya also spoke.
