Bhuabneswar, August 22,06:Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered for probe by the Crime Branch into the mark-sheet scam and have directed for suspension of 8 employees of the Orissa Board of Secondary Education, Cuttack, basing on the recommendations of Chief Secretary, Ajit Tripathy.
According to a press communique issued from the Chief Minister’s Office, the C.M. has also directed Dr. P.C. Mohapatra, former President of the Board to inquire in detail about the examination system followed by the Board and to suggest reforms.
The employees who have been suspended included Dr. Minaketan Pani, President, Madan Mohan Swain, Controller of Examinations, S.M. Mishra, N.Sutar, both Section Officers, Babaji Behera, Head Assistant, S.K. Behera, Clerk, Bharati Patra, Clerk and B. Mallick , Peon.
Bharati Patra was the clerk who had boldly divulged before the media about the involvement of Board’s high officials in the mark-list scam relating to son of the then minister for Secondary and Mass Education. Suspension of Bharati have raised
eyebrows in political and bureaucratic circles as well as among the public.
But the communique is silent about any action against former minister of State Bishnu Charan Das , the eye of the storm in this ” Magic Mark ” episode.
