Bargarh, August 16 (Odisha.in) A man and his wife allegedly killed their three children in Orissa’s Bargarh district because they could not manage to feed them.
The parents also took the poison after committing the crime. While the woman died, the man managed to survive.
Police Tuesday discovered dead bodies of the children between six and 15 years few meters away from Chandi temple at Tukurla village, some 15 kilometers from here, circle inspector of police Muzibur Rehman told Odisha.in.
Police has found a small bottle of poison from the site.
Villagers Thursday found a man and his wife in a critical condition in a place some 14 kilometers from the spot where the dead bodies of the children were found. They brought them to the hospital and on their way the woman died.
The man who survived told police in his statement that he and his wife gave poison to the children and consumed the same themselves as they were in ‘acute poverty’.
The man who is named as Arjun Pradhan claimed himself as a native of Ganjam district also said that he had taken loans from people which he could not pay.
