Balasore, Aug 13 (Odisha.in) At least two trains were cancelled and two others detained at two separate places in Orissa’s Balasore district due to three days of torrential rains.
The railway tracks have been submerged under water at Kontai in Midnapur district of West Bengal and Pakharbad and Narayangarh in Orissa’s Balasore district.
Both down lines and up lines in these places were affected, station manager K C Mallick told Odisha.in.
“This led us to terminate Bhubaneswar-Howrah Janasatabdi Express at Balasore. Similarly, 216 Kharagpur-Balasore passenger was also canceled at Kharagpur” he said.
While Bhadrak-Howrah Baghajatin passenger was detained at Jaleswar station, Jajpur-Kharagpur local was detained at Basta,” he said.
Several trains were running at least one hour late as they were being regulated through the down line.
