The wonder kid Budhia Singh, who was in media for his extraordinary ability to run
and entry into the Limca Book of Records on May 1, 2006, is in a different state now.
Instead of attending his regular practice for marathon, the boy today spent his practicing hours at Baragada police station along with widowed mother Sukanti to lodge formal complaints against his coach and foster father Biranchi Das.
Budhis, who was always wearing costly shoes during the practice and otherwise, came to the police station bare feet.
Talking to media persons at the police station in charge Bhabani Kumar Patnaik said
that the police has acted on formal complaint of Budhia and his mother. The police would
act as per the law.
Budhia’s mother Sukanti Singh, who uses to earn her livelihood by cleaning utensils from door to door once open a time was looking revengeful against Biranchi. She alleged how Birabchi was torturing Budhia and was exploiting him physically, mentally and financially.
Budhia, who was also present at the police station made similar allegations against
Biranchi.
Biranchi Das, told media persons after his arrest that this was a part of conspiracy hatched by Pramila Mallick, Minister for Child and Women Welfare who was after him since he wanted to promote Budhia and wanted him to prepare for the Olympic Games.
He emphasized that as he protested against the immoral behavior of Budhia’s sister and drove her away from the training center, Sukanti has become hostile and hatched conspiracy against him.
In the meanwhile Pramilla Mallick, minister for Child and Women Welfare told media persons that since police have arrested Biranchi on complaints of Budhia and his mother; they would take steps as per law.
Since questions are being raised about Budhia’s future, the State Government would ensure to take care of him by all means.
Questioning Biranchi’s accommodating Budhia’s sister in Judo Hall, the minister said, he was supposed to provide coaching to boys and girls, but he was illegally running a hostel.
It was not a short stay home to accommodate grownup girls. Now the Government would also examine this aspect and take legal action against Biranchi Das.
The Child Welfare Committee would meet in the afternoon to discuss about the situation arisen out of the complaints of Budhia and his mother against Coach Biranchi Das and are likely to take a decision about Budhia’s future.
Birabchi Das is likely to be forwarded to the court in the afternoon and if the bail is not granted, he would land in Jharapada jail.
