Jagatsinghpur, August 9 (Odisha.in) A man who was accused of smuggling kerosene in Orissa’s Jagatsinghpur district escaped hours after he was arrested Thursday by police, official said.
Kishoer Nagar police had arrested four persons who were allegedly supplying kerosene to various people in Pradeep for adulteration of diesel. Police had also seized 1400 liters kerosene from a Tata sumo.
The arrested persons were Ashok Mohanty of Cuttack, Jatadhari Sahoo of Manijanga area and Jitendra Nayak of Barilo village under Tirtol police station and Manguli Nath of
Kendrapada.
Police had kept them in police hazat at the local police station. When the policemen were preparing them to take to the court, Jitendra Nayak requested a sub inspector of police to go latrine.
The police officer sent him along with one constable and chaukidar to do complete the nature call. Minutes after Mohanty allegedly attacked the constable Abhaya Jena & slapped chaukidar Punei Mallick and managed to escape in a motorcycle, he said.
Kishoernagar police is now raiding at various places to nab him, in charge of the police station Mr Niranjan Padhi told Odisha.in.
