Nayapalli Durga Puja pandal draws crowd

Bhubaneswar, October19 ( ) Durga Puja pandal of Nayapalli with its unique concept and traditional craftmanship attracts more visitors this year.

While earlier Nayapalli Durga puja mandap committee had the distinction of erecting  the gates resembling Belur Math, Birla temple, Victoria Terminal, Mysore Palace, Church St. Pits burg, Grant place of Brussels , Royal Palace of Britain and Communication Palace of Spain, which was attracting  lakhs of visitors from all over the State, during the current year, there has been  an exception.

A traditional structure is this year’s attraction. The main gate has been made of mats anddecorated with Orissan handicrafts. It took over 2 months to construct and decorate the gate and the pendal. A 19 feet high well decorated clay image of Goddess Durga is being worshiped here.

Talking to Mahendra Balabantaray, General Secretary of   Nayapalli Durga Puja Committe said that according to Vedic customs the image of  Goddess Durga has been constructed of the holy  soil of   sacred rivers Ganjes and  Kathjodi, by artists from Medinpur.

This years image  highlights the  state of  Goddess Durga before killing Mahishasura.  In the backdrop  . images of  all the Gods and Goddesses  offering  arms, ammunitions, dresses and ornaments to  Goddess Durga  to prepare herself to kill the demon has been depicted.

He informed that electronic light gate, high mast light, 80 feet high image of Ravan and computerised fire works are the main attractions of this year’s mandap
