Bhubaneswar, Dec 6(Odisha.in) The Orissa unit of Nationalist Congress Party has demanded the state government to convene an all party meeting to discuss and settle the displacement and water supply problems relating to the proposed POSCO steel Plant .
The NCP which also condemned the huge deployment of police force in the Dhinkia and Nuagaon area, the hot bed of anti-POSCO movement, in a clandestine manner, demanded immediate pull out of the police from the area and to lift the prohibited order promulgated under section 144 there.
Addressing a press conference, the senior party leaders- Asok Das and Arun Dey alleged that state government had let loose rein of terror in the area through the police and the pro-Posco supporters.
Alleging that the state government particularly the Chief Minister Naveen
Patnaik has been acting as the paid agents of POSCO, lamented that the state was bending itself for the benefit of the private South Korean steel company, they said.
Das warned that “if the state government would try to effect forceful eviction of Dhinkia and Nuagaon people under the Kujanga Tahasil areas, there would be another Kalinga Nagar and Nandigram”.
Das who did not spare the Congress party and the UPA government at the Cenetre for the present problems in the Kujanga area, alleged that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Orissa Chief Minister had nexus to ensure the establishment of the POSCO steel mill by uprooting the people from their homes and agricultural land.
And both the UPA government and the state government is violating the R&R Policy and Water policy in case of the private company. In the same vein, the NCP leaders criticized the NDA and BJP particularly L.K.Advani for pursuing double standard in case of POSCO .
“While Advani is raising his voice against the Left Government on Nandigram issue, he is totally silent on the “state sponsored violence” on the anti-Posco people, he said.
