Malkangiri, August 27 (odisha.in) Hundreds of residents in Orissa’s tribal populated Malkangiri district are living in fear blaming a blue light that they alleged is appearing in the night mysteriously and disappearing making them ill.

The inhabitants who are spending sleepless nights are at Iralgundi, Dharmapali, Niliguda, Nandibeda, Pujariguda, Erbanpalli, Materu, MPV29, MPV23, and MPV27.

Deba Madakami a student of the Moteru tribal residential school at Moteru village complained that he was injured and become ill after the mysterious light hit him last fortnight.

The tale of the fear spread from one to other. Now the residential school is empty. Children have moved from the hostel to safer places-their homes. The numbers of victims are more.

The other who allegedly were hit by it are Nila Padiami 26, Singa Padiami 55, Bhime Sodi30, Irma Madakami 20, Santi Padiami 22, Padia Padiami 29 and, many others. There are at least 25 persons who have been affected” villagers said.

The victims have also rushed to the local hospital for treatment and have sought the help of the police but in vein.

The numbers of affected are increasing day by day. When we are asleep it falls on our face with a sound” an eye witness and victim told Odisha.in.
Some people became courageous. They decided to solve the mystery but failed. They also failed to capture the moving blue light in still and video cameras.

According to eye witnesses the blue light which appears from the jungles or the grave yards moves for some time and disappears after covering some distance.

Because of the fear the villagers are remaining highly alert whole night and trying to drive away this which they considers as evil by beating drums, tins, aluminum utensils etc.

To keep themselves awake all over the night they are also  performing dances. In the day time the villagers are worshiping their forest Goddess and Spirit (Dumma) to escape from the attack.

People believe that this might be activities of alien forces. The people in this tribal dominated area would continue to live in fear until the mystery behind the blue light is solved by some high level scientific team.

Similar incidents were earlier reported from neighbouring district of Nabrangpur and boarding state of Chhatisgarh. But none managed to know how it occurs and affects people.
