Justice Kalpesh Satyendra Jhaveri has been appointed the new Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.
Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal administered the oath of office to Justice Jhaveri on Monday (Aug 13) at the Orissa High Court.
The event saw the presence of chief minister Naveen Patnaik and several senior officials.
Last month, Justice Vineet Saran, who was serving as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, was elevated as a Supreme Court judge.
The post had fall vacant and hence the Ministry of Law and Justice issued a notification on July 4 announcing Justice Jhaveri’s appointment to the post.
On Saturday (Aug 11), Justice Jhaveri and his family visited the Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri to seek blessings of the God.
Justice Jhaveri started his legal practice at the Gujarat High Court. After being at several portfolios in the Bar, he became an additional judge in 2004.
In 2005, he was appointed as a permanent judge at the Gujarat High Court.
In 2016, he was transferred to Rajasthan High Court.
