Rourkela, Jan 8 (Odisha.in) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a subsidiary of Steel Authority of India, has been continually striving hard to increase production and productivity, besides reducing the cost of production through improved techno-economics.
Showcasing the efforts of the collective, the Blast Furnace – 4 Department not only registered highest ever single day Hot Metal production of 2787 Tonnes on 4 th January 2018, but also recorded the best ever productivity of 1.92 Tonne per cubic Metre per day.
With this the unit surpassed the earlier record of Hot Metal Production of 2775 Tonnes set on 13 th September 2008.
Coal Dust Injection (CDI) was instrumental in achieving the feat. It is worth mentioning here that the designed productivity of Blast Furnace – 4 is 1.50 Tonne per cubic metre per day.
The significant improvement in the productivity has been achieved because of major modifications both in Mills area and Injection area of CDI.
