Bhubaneswar, March 24 (Odisha.in) The Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) on Sunday appointed three-time legislator and former state minister Jayanarayan Mishra as its legislature party leader in the Odisha assembly.
A core committee of the party met here during the day and decided to appoint Mishra after approval by central leadership, a party spokesman told The Odisha.in.
Mishra 50 has been representing Sambalpur constituency in the state assembly since 2000. He was also a state minister from 2004-2008. He had held the departments of commerce and transport, labour and
employment.
Mishra replaces Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo who was appointed as the state president of the party recently. The BJP has six members in the 147 member-assembly. The party has also got the support of one independent member.
