Bhubaneswar, Jan 29 (Odisha.in) The first unit of GMR Group’s 3X350 MW coal based power project at
Kamalanga, near Dhenkanal in Odisha, was synchronized successfully, a senior company official said on Tuesday.
“This is the Group’s second coal-based power plant to be synchronized” he told Odisha.in. “Work on commissioning the second and third unit in the state is in progress. The project has been implemented on multiple packages concept” he said.
The power project is the first Independent power project (IPP) in the state and it has been synchronized with the central grid as per the condition laid down in the memorandum of understanding it had signed with the government, he said.
The project local ted at the distance of about 100 kms from state capital Bhubaneswar will cater to the power needs of various states of India including Odisha, he added.
The plant’s coal requirement will be met from Rampia Coal Mines in the same state which has been allocated for joint development to 6 companies including GMR.
GMR Group is a Bangalore headquartered global infrastructure major with interests in the Airports, Energy, Highways and Urban infrastructure.
