Bhubaneswar, June 4 (Odisha.in) A heat wave continued to grip Orissa with Bhabanipatna town, the district head quarters of Kalahandi, 427 kms from here, recording 45.2 degree Celsius Friday, the day’s highest temperature in the state, official said.
At least ten places across the state recorded maximum temperature of more then 40 degree Celsius, an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre told odisha.in.
The places which recorded more then 40 degree Celsius included state capital Bhubaneswar and its nearby Cuttack city each 41.5, Jharsuguda 43.6, Sambalpur 44.0, Titilagarh 43.0, Angul 43.1, and Talcher 41.0, Hirakud 44.2, and Chandbali 41.2 degree Celsius, he said.
The heat wave condition would prevail over some interior parts of the state although rain and thunder shower would occur in few places during next 24 hours, he said.
The death toll due to sunstroke in the state since March has remained at 37, an official of the state relief control room said.
