Paradeep, July 9 (Odisha.in) An iron ore laden Panama ship going to China was stranded for more than 24 hours in Orissa after it went aground.
The ship ‘Golden Star 1’ went aground on 5th July near Pradeep port due to some technical snag, Captain G.P Biswal the Deputy Conservator of Paradeep port told Odisha.in.
It has 25 crew members. The ship was loaded with 21,400 tons of iron ore in the Paradeep port and planned to sail to China, he said.
But it was drifted towards northern side of the shallow water and went aground, he said. The port authority however re-floated it next day, he said.
The ship will pay about 15 lakh to the port authority towards re-floating charges before sailing to China either Tuesday or Wednesday, he said.
