Bhubaneswar, Apr 28(Odisha.in) The Bhubaneswar police is struggling hard to nab the main accused in the murder of Judo coach Biranchi Das. It is also struggling hard to find out the reasons behind murder even 15 days after the crime.
Das was brutally shot dead near the Judo Hall where his wife, sister and a number of students were present.
Police say that Chagala one of the co accused nabbed recently is changing his version frequently.
Initially he disclosed that Jubuli Sunderay had committed the crime and he witnessed it subsequently he changed his version and said it was Raja Acharya killed the coach. This has confused the police.
Actress Leslie Tripathy’s love affair, illegal scrap deal, real estate rivalry and mismanagement of Budhia Trust funds are some of the reasons widely discussed in the media as the reasons behind the killing.
As far as Lelie’s love story is concerned, there were reports that the coach was persuading Raja to keep himself away from Leslie.
The Video CD and Audio CD available with the police and many media organisations including Odisha.in bears testimony of Raja’s blind love for Leslie and alleged interference of Biranchi Das and senior I.A.S. Priyabrata Patnaik , Jubuli Sunder Ray etc.
Though the Crime Branch of Orissa police have already unearthed the scrap deal involving the railway officials, police and some other high officers, involvement of Raja Acharya in taking ” supari” to eliminate Biranchi is yet to be established, though Biranchi was instrumental in exposing the railway scrap scam, a senior police official said.
Detail about Budhia Trust Funds and any outsider’s interest in such funds is yet to be ascertained. Though it is very easy for the police to ascertain the exact amount collected for the Trust and withdrawn by Biranchi, so far the police have not disclosed anything before media.
Police has yet to find evidences that show rivalry between Biranchi and Raja in land deal.
Similarly police has yet to find any evidences related to the involvements of top bureaucrats, politician’s etc.
Incase the police fails to extract the truth from Chagala and Tikina another close aid of gangster Raja; they are left with three alternatives to find out the truth. They include “Narco analysis “, ” Polygraph or Lie-Detector Test and Brain Mapping “.
A person is able to lie by using his imagination. In the narco-analysis test, the person’s s inhibitions are lowered by interfering with his nervous system. In this state, it becomes difficult, though not impossible for him to lie.
In such sleep-like state, efforts are made to obtain ‘probative truth’ about the crime.
However such tests often trigger doubts.
Legal questions are raised about their validity, with some upholding its validity in the light of legal principles and others rejecting it as a blatant violation of constitutional provisions.
Apart from narco test, there are also other two kinds of tests, which are popularly used on the convict for extraction of truth, these are -Polygraph or lie detection test and the brain mapping test.
Polygraph or lie detection test is an examination, which is based on an assumption that there is an interaction between the mind and body and is conducted by various components or the sensors of a polygraph machine, which are attached to the body of the person who is interrogated by the expert.
The machine records the blood pressure, pulse rate and respiration and muscle movements. Polygraph test is conducted in three phases – a pretest interview, chart recording and diagnosis.
In the brain mapping test the accused is first interviewed and interrogated to find out whether he is concealing any information.
Then sensors are attached to the subject’s head and the person is seated before a computer monitor. He is then shown certain images or made to hear certain sounds.
The sensors monitor electrical activity in the brain which are generated only if the subject has connection with the stimulus, i.e. picture or sound. The subject is not asked any questions here.
