Bhubaneswar, April 09( Odisha.in) Suspended Assistant Lady Marshal Gayatri Panda Wednesday filed a Rs 5 crore defamation suit against an Oriya news paper for carrying on malicious campaign against her by publishing objectionable stories.
She has filed the case against Pabitra Mohan Samantaray, Editor ‘Paryabeskyak” and its printer and publisher Budhadev Mohapatra in the Court of Civil Judge (Senior Division), Bhubaneswar. Advocate Arup Chand has filed the case on behalf of Gayatri.
In her petition, Gayatri mentioned that on 27.03.2008, the said newspaper carried news with derogative sentences such as she is having illicit relationship with some minister and she has also traveled abroad with a minister.
Talking to media persons after filing the suit she said she is not happy with the progress police has made in investigating into the case she has filed against former speaker Maheswar Mohanty.
“Police has interrogated me more even if I am the complainant. It has not interrogated Mohanty even for once” she alleged.
Since she feels that the Orissa police is under pressure, she would prefer impartial probe by the C.B.I. “If necessary, I shall take shelter under court of law seeking justice ” , she said.
She alleged that after she spoke to the media about the sexual harassment of the Speaker, she was threatened by hoodlums who even went to the extent of threatening her to kill if she would not change her stand.
She said that she would continue her fight till the last to get justice.
