Bhubaneswar, Mar.27( Odisha.in) Rajendra Sarangi an eminent people’s leader who was fighting against displacemnt for industries and establishment of SEZ in Orissa as well as outside and was a successful coordinator of all anti-displacement forces passed away at a Bhubaneswar nursing home on Thursday morning.
Sarangi was 47 and is survived by his old parents and only son. His wife had expired few years ago.
Sarangi was sufferring from cerebral malaria followed by multi-organ failure and hospitalised two days ago. His condion was critical and was on life supprting system.
Rajendra’s eyes were donated to the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute Eye Bank after his parents disclosed that Rajendra had earlier expressed before them about such desire inorder to enbele a visually impaired person to see the world.
As soon as news about his death spread in the city a number of political leaders, journalists, relatives assembled to pay homage to him. His body was cremated at Satyanagar crematarium.
Rabi Das, editor ” Ama Rajadhani “, Panchanan Kanungo, former Minister of State for Finance, former M.L.A. and CPI(ML) Liberation leader Radhakanta Sethi, Sudhir Patnaik , Editor ” Samadrusti” and a number of leftist leaders have mourned death of Sarangi.
Sarangi’s untimely death has been described as a great loss to the ” people’s movement ” in the State as well as in the country.
