North Carolina, March 15 (Odisha.in) Odissi dance has audiences spellbound in the two days festival India fest 2008 in North Carolina in US.
The fest that attracted 8,000 attendees begun with an Odissi dance choreographed and solo performance by Madhumita Kar(Mishra) – “ Guru Vandana” by Odissi Nrutya Niketan, ONN .
The entire audience enjoyed the invocation to “Guru” in the unique Odissi dance that represents ” a dance of love, delight and intense passion, lyrical, pure and divine all rolled into one”.
A band from Mumbai entertained the audience on Saturday and Indian Idol star Amit Paul rocked the arena on Sunday.
The venue of the program was J.S. Dorton arena, is a marvelous indoor facility with over 25,000 sq ft of floor space in addition to over 4,000 stadium style seating.
The stadium like seating at Dorton Arena offers a unique view of the main stage from all seats enhancing the overall experience at India Fest.
This year’s India Fest set new heights with approximately 800 performers sharing the stage during the two day festival. Vendors from New York to Florida provided a variety of traditional crafts and cuisine choices to visitors.
