Balasore, February 23(Odisha.in) Insult to the governor and enormous indiscipline marred the fourth convocation of Fakir Mohan University that was observed on Saturday at its new campus in Nuapadhi.
While the national anthem couldn’t be played properly at the arrival of Governor M C Bhanadare due to the failure of public address system provided by the district information and public relations department,
the PHD degree certificates were interchanged among the recipients causing widespread resentment.
The district information and public relation officer Pramod Mallick however attributed the problem as a technical fault. “We have been managing through the faulty machines. But we had taken utmost care,” he equipped.
Meanwhile, registrar of the university A C Kar has assured to write against him to his higher authorities for the breakdown of public addressing system. “Two years ago the same problem was there. Now it can’t be tolerated. It is tragic and pathetic,” he said.
But what made the audience angry that the certificates for honourary degree holders were uttered in such a manner that one received the certificate while another’s was reading out. “I had never witnessed such type of indiscipline anywhere before,” remarked a guest.
In the beginning of the ceremony it was Rabindra Mohan Das, eminent freedom fighter and founder member of the University who was not properly attended by the university authorities. He was seen moving hither and thither without getting a seat.
Similarly, a senate member was seen talking in a cell phone on the dais while Governor was addressing at the convocation ceremony.
Much to the embarrassment, Jashodhara Das, daughter of the freedom fighter created ‘halla-golla’ when the university registrar skipped to announce an endowment gold medal which was to be given to a MCA gold medalist in her mother’s name. She was however pacified after the registrar begged apology.
