Bhubaneswar, Jan 21( Odisha.in)Four persons were killed and 30 injured when a tourist bus from Madhya Pradesh caught fire at Bhuabneswar on Monday moring at about 8.45 a.m.
Although officials said four persons died, members of Judo Hall near the accident site, who rescued the passangers from the burining bus claimed that they had brough out five charred bodies from the bus.
The bus bearing registration number MP 33E 9090 was returning from Puri with 67 passangers which included 27 men and rest were women and children. They had come from Raighar in Madhya Pradesh in pilgrimage to Puri.
While 12 passangers were injured four of them were critical.Four critical patients were sent to S.C.B. Medical College, Cuttak for treatment while others were admitted to the Government Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
The fire accident took place as many of the passangers had loaded kerosene stoves withtanks filled with kerosine and a number of containers loaded with kersosene for cooking.
Some people were making tea when the accident took place and the flames spread inside the bus. As there was only one exit, there was stampade inside, for which the casuality increased.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik visited the hospital in Bhubaneswar and ascertain about the treatment of the injureds, he consoled the relatives of the dead and injured and assured free treatment by the Orissa Government.
