New Delhi, Jan 3 (Odisha.in) In a major reshuffle of bureaucrats on the starting of the year 2008, the Government of India has made 33 significant appointments of senior IAS officers to various departments of the government.
It has also transferred two Orissa cadre IAS officers. It appointed Subas Chandra Pani, an Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of Orissa cadre 1972 batch, as Secretary in the Planning Commission.
Dr Pani who has worked as the chief secretary of Orissa is presently Secretary of Department of Rural Development in the Ministry of Rural Development.
The government has also appointed US Bhatia, a 1974 batch IAS officer of Orissa cadre, as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India, World Trade Organisation (WTO), Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry in the rank and pay of Secretary.
Pani and Bhatia are 33 significant appointments of 1974 batch of IAS officers to various departments of the government.
