Bhubaneswar,Dec 24(Odisha.in) VHP on Monday demanded strong action against the Christian missionaries in Kandhamal district, which are creating communal tension on the eve of the X-Mass Day on Tuesday.
VHP State general secretary Gouri Prasad Rath warned that if the Governmnet failed to take action against the accused, VHP would force to attack the missionaries.
Missionaries have attacked noted Hindu religious leader Swami Laxmananda Saraswati of Chakapada.
Earlier in the day, Hindu and Christian people held a pitched battle at Dasingbadi near Bramhanigaon village Square under Daringbadi Block of Kandhamal district over the installation of a statue of Jesus Christ, which was supposed to be inaugurated on X-Mass Day on Tuesday.
Fearing any further bigger class between the Hindu and the Christian Missionaries, district administration has beefed security measures at the tension site.
According to police sources, the incident took place, when some Hindu people opposed the instillation of a statue of Jesus Christ ahead of the X-Mass Day on Tuesday at Bramhanigaon and exchanged verbal duels with the people of Christian Community, which latter turned uncontrolled leading one injured.
While unconfirmed sources maintained five Hindus and two Christian were injured.
As the area being disconnected from rest part of the district because of its geographical barriers, which needed nearly three hours to reached the spot.
Kandhamal District Superintendent of Police Narasingha Bhol said “We have pressed one platoon force to the trouble torn area. I and District Collector took stock of the situation and dispersing the crowd, police resorted to blank firing for a while,” .
However, the Christian people have reportedly attacked noted Hindu religious leader Swami Laxmananda Saraswati.
Police latter rescued from the clutches of Christian people and admitted Swamiji in a nearby hospital for treatment.
Swami also lodged a FIR against some Christian people for the violence in the local Police Station, sources added.
