Bhubaneswar,Dec 16 (Odisha.in ) Award winning parallel cinema Kathantara directed by Himansu Khatua and produced by Itishree Samant was released in the state on Friday. The film revolves round the horrifying experience of a young widow who lost her husband and family in the devastating Super Cyclone of 1999.
Releasing the film at Sriya Talkies here, revenue and disaster management minister Manmohan Samal lauded the efforts of KIIT Deemed University chancellor Dr Achuyt Samant and his sister Iti Samant for producing an art film of this kind. Once can experience the extent of damage caused by the super cyclone.
The film has received the National Award in 2005 as the best Oriya film.Not only this, the film has also bagged many awards in many film festivals in the country.
The lead actress of the film Anu Choudhury said that the whole Kathantar team had worked hard to shoot the film. She also appealed the people to watch the film that depicts the psychology of a young widow who lost her everything in cyclone.
Among others, Panchayati Raj Secretary and Film Development Corporation chairman RN Dash, director tourism RN Nanda, and a host of actors and actress of the film were present on the occasion.
