Balasore, Dec 14 (Odisha.in) North Orissa town Balasore is gearing up for AITA championship tournament for under-14 (boys and girls) from December 23 to 27, secretary Balasore Tennis Association.
About 100 upcoming players from Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Tamilnadu, Assam, Punjab, Gujrat besides Orissa have confirmed to participate in the event, which will be conducted at Modern public school Tennis ground.
This was informed by District collector and tournament director Dr. Alekh Chandra Padhiary at a press meet held here on Friday.
All the main draw players will be given free accommodation, lunch, breakfast and dinner during the tournament, which will be organized by Balasore Tennis Association, under the auspices of the Orissa tennis Association.
The main draw for both boys and girls single event will feature 64 players.
But the boys’ main draw will be preceded by a qualifying competition for which entries of as many as 32 players have already been accepted.
Anshu Kumar Bhuyan, Shreyash, Kiran Kumar Naik, Mayank Tripathy, Abhilash Mishra, Shubhash Das ( all from Orissa), Surya Pavan, Abhishek Alla, Rohit Sarwate ( from AP), Shukrit Guha, Harsh Gurnani, Roshan Karnani, Akshat Vijay ( all from WB), Shidhant Deka (from Assam) and S. Siddharth Reddy( from Tamilnadu) are the other 20 players who have given direct entry into the main draw.
Among others, Secretary of Balasore Tennis Association S.D. Bhanj, tournament coordinator Saurav Behera and member Madan Saraogi were present during the press meet.
