Bhubaneswar, Nov 28 (Odisha.in) Ex-Director General of Police (DGP), Amarananda Pattnayak has been appointed as the new Commandant General, home Guards and DGP, Fire services according to notification issued by Home Department here.
Pattnayak, a 1973 batch Orissa Cadre IPS officer has been given the new assignment in place of Bidya Bhushan Mohanti, now under suspension being declared as absconder and accused of shielding his rape victim son Bittihotra ,who turned fugitive after jumping parole.
He will assume his new charges on return from leave on 1st December, 2007.
Pattnayak was proceeded on forced month long leave from November 1 last to make way to Gopal Chandra Nanda to become the new DGP in his place.
Sources said, Pattnayak being humiliated by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, had opted a central posting. Failing to get a suitable central posting, he changed his mind to stay in the state.
