Bhubaneswar, Nov 23 (odisha.in) Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flayed Union Government for adopting a partial attitude towards Orissa in not including it under the World Bank aided Integrated Child Development Service Programme.
“While some progressive and developed states have been included under the WBICDS scheme, Orissa wtth large prevalence of poverty and malnutrition among Children and mothers , has been left out by the Central government”, lamented Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Dashing a letter to Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh Thursday, the Chief Minister expressed his concern over the apathetic attitude towards Orissa, urged to include Orissa under the World bank aided Integrated Child Development Service Scheme to redress the problem of malnutrition.
Stating that the state government has been giving stress on removing malnutrition among Children and pregnanat mothers, Patnaik said the success of the various interventions are yet to be achieved fully.
In order to strengthen the efforts of the State, he said a proposal has been submitted to the Union Government to sanction opening of at least 22,000 additional Anganwadi Kendras in the state .
So far as many as 7,84 lakh women and 42 lakh children’s have been covered under the ongoing ICDS, he said.
