New Delhi, November 21(Odisha.in) The Tata Archery Academy cadets created history when the International Archery Body (FITA) ratified the World Record by the Indian Team at the 3rd Cadet World Archery Championship held at Mexico from 15th to 22nd Oct 2007 during the Team Finals (i.e. Semi final & Final – 2 X 24 arrows).
The Indian team comprising of three archers, Adonda Raju, Rajib Basumatary and Ravindhar Hembram had tabled a combined score of 440 points – a feat that has never before been achieved by anyone.
It is a proud moment for the Nation and Tata Steel in its Centenary Year, when as its archers have been conferred with this honour.
Dr T Mukherjee, President Jharkhand Archery Association has said that a proper Felicitation ceremony will be organized for the archers at Jamshedpur during the AGM in December.
Dr Vijay Kumar Malhotra (MP), President, Archery Association of India congratulated the archers and appreciated the efforts of Tata Steel towards setting up of the Academy.
He said, “With the creation of the Tata Archery Academy the standard of Archery has definitely improved and our Indian team has started winning medal at various International Meets”.
Mr. B Muthuraman, Managing Director, Tata Steel and Mr. Partha Sengupta, Vice President (Corporate Services) Tata Steel also congratulated the archers on their achievement.
